Healing Hands Clinic, a specialised healthcare organisation focused on proctology and anorectal care, is preparing for a major expansion across India. Backed by a $30 million investment from L Catterton, the company expands to grow its network from 40 centres to 100 centres over the next two years.

The expansion will help Healing Hands bring specialised anorectal treatment closer to patients, especially across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. The company aims to extent 60 new centres across more than 100 new pin codes.

New Super-Speciality Hospital in Pune

As part of its expansion, Healing Hands Clinic also plans to launch a dedicated super-speciality proctology hospital in Pune within the next 18 months.

The new hospital will focus on complex and recurring anorectal conditions. It will also provide space for advanced procedures, clinical research, surgeon training and specialised patient care.

The company said the expansion is not only about adding more centres but also about building strong clinical and operational systems so patients receive consistent care across locations.

Founded by Dr Ashwin Porwal

Healing Hands Clinic was founded in 2008 by Dr Ashwin Porwal, an anorectal surgeon. What started as a small outpatient centre in Pune has grown into a specialised network with 40 centres, a flagship Centre of Excellence and a team of hundreds of healthcare professionals.

The organisation currently treats around 50,000 new patients every year.

Dr Ashwin Porwal said proctology needs the same level of scientific focus and dignity as other medical specialties. He highlighted the clinic's focus on choosing the right treatment for each patient while reducing treatment burden.

Healing Hands has developed and adopted several specialised treatment approaches, including Distal Laser Proximal Ligation (DLPL) for complex and recurrent fistula, grade-based treatment for haemorrhoids, Laser Pilonidotomy for pilonidal sinus and techniques for rectal prolapse.

Focus on Quality, Not Just More Centres

Roshan Porwal, Co-Founder and CEO of Healing Hands Clinic, said the goal is not simply to increase the number of centres. The company wants to create a connected healthcare network where the quality of treatment does not depend on a patient's PIN code.

To support this growth, Healing Hands expands to strengthen clinical leadership, team training, standard operating systems and technology. Technology will also help the organisation coordinate patient care, improve follow-ups and identify gaps early, while doctors will continue to make the final clinical decisions.

Tackling Stigma Around Proctology

Conditions related to piles, fistula and other anorectal problems are often linked with embarrassment, misinformation and delayed medical consultation. This can prevent patients from getting treatment at the right time.

Healing Hands aims to address this by improving access to specialists, encouraging early diagnosis and providing patients with private and dignified care.

The organisation also expands to increase its focus on research, surgeon training and community healthcare as its network expands.

400+ Health Camps and Guinness World Record

Through the

Healing Hands Foundation, the organisation works to make specialised anorectal care more accessible and affordable.

The foundation has conducted more than 400 community health camps. Its World Piles Day 2025 initiative in Pune also earned a Guinness World Records title after 352 eligible participants signed up for anorectal screening within 12 hours.

Healing Hands Clinic is also recognised as India's first NABH-accredited proctology clinic.

Building a National Proctology Healthcare Platform

From a single clinic in Pune to a growing network across India, Healing Hands is now looking to build a much larger specialised healthcare platform.

With L Catterton's backing, the company expands to combine specialised doctors, technology, research, training and a wider centre network to make anorectal care easier to access across the country.
